After
debuting a few weeks ago to a crowd of fans in Detroit, the
sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro has quickly become one of the most
eagerly awaited muscle cars of this year. With that, when Chevy debuted
the Camaro, the company only brought along V6s. This left many hungry
for the more potent V8 SS variant. But thanks to a couple intrepid forum
posters, we now have a few more pictures of Chevy’s latest muscle car.
Caught
on two separate occasions, and in two distinct color schemes, the new
Camaro SS looks to be more performance oriented than the last
generation. The car has been pinched, tightened, and put on a diet to
reduce the overall mass. This was primarily done by using the
ATS-derived Alpha Platform, which uses many aluminum components to
reduce weight. The lighter chassis, in conjunction with the new the
455-horsepower LT1 V8 (out of the C7 Corvette Stingray), all adds up to
what will likely be an amazing performance car.

The
first Camaro SS was caught in a yellow and black paint scheme that is
reminiscent of Bumblebee from Transformers. As you can see, the wheels,
front fascia, and hood vents have all been blacked out to give the car a
very ominous appeal. Spotted at the 11th Annual Michigan F-Body Meet
& Greet, the new Camaro was joined by its sibling, the ATS-V sedan.
The
second sighting was from the 24th Annual Camaro Superfest show in
Ypsilanti, Michigan. The SS there was a similar crimson-red to the
current Camaro’s Red Rock color. Additionally, while the yellow and
black SS was equipped with a manual transmission, the red Camaro had an
automatic and a moon roof. Furthermore, the new red Camaro had a set of
silver wheels.
Camaro
fans won’t have to wait too much longer to get their hands on the new
car. Due out this fall, Chevy is prepping the new Camaro for both the
sales and speed war it is about to enter between it and the new Mustang.
Unlike real wars though, no matter which side you choose, you’ll be a
winner.
